PAST PERFECT

 PAST PERFECT

The past perfect is used to refer to things that had happened in the past before something else happened. It is formed as in Spanish: with the past tense of the verb haber in its auxiliary function (had), plus the past participle of the main verb.

The past perfect is often accompanied by the past simple to indicate that something had happened before something else happened.

STRUCTURE OF PAST PERFECT STATEMENTS

To form the past perfect:  we use subject + "had"  + the past participle + complement.

EXAMPLE

I had studied some English before I moved to London.
